Fredista Manuel

Fredista Duropan Manuel, 82, of Pahoa, died Feb. 6, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 20, 1939 in Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a papaya farmer and a member of Resurrection Church / Church of the Holy Apostles.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Jacinto Abian Manuel of Pahoa; children, Evangeline (Michael) Hopper and Jackfray Durupan Manuel, all of Pahoa and Keysher Ann Laguatan Manuel of Keaau; sister, Crispina Pascual of Waianae, Oahu; brothers, Rodrigo Duropan and Victor Durupan, both of Waianae, Oahu; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anthony Martines

Anthony Wayne “Tony” “Bozo” Martines, 78, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 18, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 4, 1943, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator for Kona Construction and member of Operating Engineers Local 3, a waiter at the Kona Inn, a room service waiter for the former Kona Surf Hotel, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pavilion in Kailua-Kona fir a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Daisy Martines of Kailua-Kona; son, Jason (Tammy) Martines of Ocean View; hanai son, Kenneth (Chloe) Cleveland of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; brothers, Christopher (Toni) Martines, Michael (Silvia) Martines, Richard Martines, all of Oahu, Jack Martines of Seattle, and Charles (Marcia) Bondshu, Ronald (Lani) Bondshu, and Steven (Mona) Gonsalves, all of California; sisters, Charlotte (Bob) Kellogg and Pam Arivett, both of California; three godsons; three aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
